![]() The disc goes through every color of the rainbow that's inside the topic of the album, and there would not have been a better way to pull the songs off. There are slightly heavier, more traditional heavy metal songs, such as "Operation Mindcrime", "Spreading the Disease", "I Don't Believe in Love", and more experimental and story-driven songs, like "Suite Sister Mary" and "Eyes of a Stranger". Literally, every single song is a masterpiece, and is written on the absolute highest level of musicianship. Throughout the album, I underwent one of the deepest "thinking sessions" in my life, as a result of what I heard. It is already something I have not experienced before, but that's only one song. The lead melody is beautifully executed, and the entire song is full of energy, melodies, great vocal lines over brilliant riffs. The intro enters the song "Revolution Calling", which is one of the most memorable starts to any album in history. The disc begins with a short intro, that actually consists of two tracks, but it quickly goes by. ![]() I will focus on the musical elements and characteristics on the record. There are a lot of websites that explain the story in great depth and detail. ![]() What the album lacks on the front of heaviness and meanness, it makes everything up in technicality and melodies, elements that this album does better than perhaps any other.Īs you probably know, this is a concept album, and I'll try not to get into the storyline too much. Operation: Mindcrime manages to reach the absolute top of the mountain in an extremely unique way. While heavy metal, (especially 80s heavy metal) is usually a lot meaner, nastier, heavier, it doesn't meant that this album is automatically disqualified to be a heavy metal classic. ![]() It would also not be inappropiate to call it the one of the greatest albums in the history of music in general. This right here is one of the greatest heavy (or power, whatever you prefer to call it) metal albums of all time. ![]()
